Goalie to miss over a month with injury.
It's a bad day for injuries.
The Detroit Red Wings have reportedly lost their number one goaltender Jimmy Howard for the long-term, following yet another serious injury for the veteran netminder.
According to a report from Brendan Savage of Mlive.com the recovery time for Howard has now been projected at four to six weeks, and that will put the bulk of the goaltending burden squarely on the shoulders of Petr Mrazek. Savage also report that the injury is to Howard's knee, a "mild" MCL sprain.
Unfortunately for the Wings Howard has been the better half of their goaltending duo this season with Mrazek putting up a .899 save percentage and 3.06 goals against average over 20 games, both statistics indicating Mrazek has struggled this season.
