The Arizona Coyotes have parted ways with long-time head coach Dave Tippett.

The team has confirmed the news on its official Twitter account and posted Tip's reaction a few minutes later:

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, there were some frictions between the former head coach and Coyotes majority owner Andrew Barroway.

Tippet was hired by the 'Yotes in 2009 to replace Wayne Gretzky as the team's head coach. He reached the playoffs three times in eight seasons, the last time being in 2012. He has a record of 282 wins, 257 losses and 83 overtime losses.

He was under contract with Arizona for four more seasons.
