Breaking: Team signs yet another goalie, seemingly confirming trade rumors.

There were rumors at the end of the offseason that a goalie trade was coming from the New York Islanders and now it seems incredibly likely that those rumors were accurate.

On Tuesday Newsday's Arthut Staple announced that, despite the Islanders already having a very crowded crease, they have signed 24 year old goaltender Jean-Francois Berube for one more year, leaving the organization with three goaltenders capable of playing at the National Hockey League level.

This is particularly noteworthy because veteran goaltender, and presumed starter, Jaroslav Halak had spoken to management following the season to voice his concerns regarding the crowded net that also featured Thomas Greiss. At the time Halak admitted that a trade was likely, and furthermore seemed to believe he would be the odd man out.

Berube has been extremely impressive in the American Hockey League, and it's expected he will be looking for more playing time in the NHL this season, pointing to a likely and perhaps even necessary trade from the Islanders.
