In case you missed it yesterday, a total of 39 NHL players  were placed on waivers as teams attempt to get their opening day rosters sorted out before Wednesday.

Among the players available on the waiver wire were veterans like Sven Baertschi, Sam Gagner, Thomas Hickey, Curtis Lazar and Luke Schenn, as well as youngsters like Josh Ho-Sang and Daniel Sprong. Goaltenders Eric Comrie and Casey DeSmith also hit the waiver wire.

Incredibly though, only two players were plucked off of waivers… they are….

Eric Comrie and Carl Dahlstrom.

Woooow! Nobody takes a flier on Baertschi, Ho-Sang or Sprong!?

There could still be news to come, but Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal has confirmed that Baertschi, along with Nikolay Goldobin and Alex Biega have all cleared waivers and will report to the AHL’s Utica Comets.

UPDATE: NHL insider Pierre LeBrun confirms there are NO other waiver claims from yesterday. Incredible.
