BREAKING: The Philadelphia Flyers proceeded to a roster movement today.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Anthony Stolarz is likely to know the highway between Philly and Lehigh Valley quite well after this weekend. After being called up by the Flyers from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms earlier this week on an emergency recall to replace an ill Steve Mason, the 23 year old goaltender has been loaned back to the Phantoms this morning. In itself, that’s not particularly odd. However, with backup Michael Neuvirth expected to sit out the Flyers’ final two games it’s expected that Stolarz will be recalled by the Flyers tomorrow for their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Luckily for the Flyers and for Stolarz, Lehigh Valley is a quick jaunt up the highway from Philadelphia and both tonight’s game for the Phantoms and tomorrow’s game for the Flyers are home games.

In just 6 games with the Flyers this season Stolarz has looked impressive. He sports a remarkable 1.93 GAA and a .932 Sv%, both stats are light years better than the numbers Mason and Neuvirth managed this season. It remains to be seen what exactly the Flyers have planned in goal for next season, but one would assume that Stolarz would factor in one way or another. Could the Flyers final two games mark the end of the Steve Mason era in Philly?
