Breaking: The update on Frederik Andersen is not good.
Things do not sound good for the new Leafs' goalie.
HockeyFeed
The Toronto Maple Leafs aren't talking but we do have some new information to share regarding the injury to newly acquired goaltender Frederik Andersen.
While the original video of the incident would leave one to believe that Andersen had suffered some form of lower-body injury as a result of the impact, according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman it's actually an upper-body injury that required Andersen to leave the game.
Furthermore while the Leafs have not commented on the seriousness of the injury, we do know that it was serious enough that the team has made the decision to bring him back to Toronto in order to have him evaluated by doctors there.
That would lead one to believe that it is unlikely Andersen will participate in the World Cup of Hockey tournament, but there has been no official announcement to that effect just yet. We will likely know more once medical staff has examined the injury.
