It was reported earlier this morning that Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter was going to miss some time with a lower-body injury, but the news is now much worse.
Carter was cut by the skate of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry's blade Wednesday night. The Kings forward is reportedly dealing with a cut on his leg deep enough to do damage to a tendon.
The Kings will likely be forced to shuffle its power-play and even strength lines. They open a six-game trip in Columbus on Saturday, followed by stops in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Boston and St. Louis.
In six games, Carter has three assists, a minus-one rating and two penalty minutes.
The team already has an open roster spot in the wake of Kyle Clifford’s upper-body injury: now more vacancies need to be filled by forwards.
