Breaking: Three more Canadian teams in the mix for Duchene.
Keystone Press

Within the last hour a shocking report, one indicating that the Ottawa Senators were making a strong push for Colorado Avalanche star forward Matt Duchene, broke in the National Hockey League but the latest is an even bigger surprise.

Moments ago TSN insider Darren Dreger reported that roughly 8 teams remain in the mix for Duchene, and among those are three additional Canadian NHL franchises on top of the aforementioned Senators.

Dreger specifically named the Vancouver Canucks, the Calgary Flames, and the Montreal Canadiens as teams that are among the group of 8 organizations that "remain in fairly consistent communication with Joe Sakic."

Dreger doesn't believe the situation is so imminent that it's now "hour to hour" however he did add that he believes it is now "day to day," which again appears to be an indicator that this deal will happen.

Stay tuned, we will continue to bring you updates as this story appears to be picking up a great deal of steam.
