So much drama surrounds the NHL these days as it seems every bit of information is hidden until the last moment for secrecy's sake. Obviously, the most sensitive information is about players injuries. You don't want to reveal the details of their injuries to make sure they don't become a target for the opposing teams after.

Anyhow, Joe Thornton was hurt in closing games of the regular season after a freak knee-on-knee that happened by accident. In case you missed it, here's the replay.

We just learned it resulted in torn ACL and MCL.

For the record, these injuries are amazingly painful and destabilize the whole leg big time. Sure, the Playoffs are important and all, but such injury could have lifetime consequences. It's a close call between pure courage and insanity to play through these.

On top of that, we also learned Patrick Marleau played with a broken thumb and Tomas Hertl had a broken foot!

How insane are these guys? Sure, they really wanted to win, but these are not run-of-the-mill injuries. They will have the whole summer to heal, but these are tough dudes.
