We have an absolutely insane trade rumor in the National Hockey League.
First, yesterday thanks to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, we learned that the Vancouver Canucks were getting calls about two of their young prospects, first round draft pick in 2015 Brock Boeser and first round pick in 2016 Olli Juolevi.
Now we have a report that the Canucks are in fact so desperate that they are considering moving one of these key pieces, specifically 5th overall pick in this year's draft Olli Juolevi. According to Shawn Tierney of The Athletic, sources have informed him that Canucks general manager Jim Benning has asked for a player like Cal Clutterbuck or Andrew Shaw as well as something in the range of a 4th to 6th round pick, and "surprise me" whatever that may mean.
It's almost unimaginable to think that the Canucks would deal such a high end draft choice so soon, but considering the difficult start they have had this season they may very well be in desperation mode. You can fully expect that other NHL general managers will be circling the Canucks to try and get this deal done.
