Details inside
Trevor Daley who was acquired from the Dallas Stars by the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the Patrick Sharp deal never really meshed in Chicago.
That made him expendable and he has been shipped off to Pittsburgh for Rob Scuderi. It is our first real trade of the season and a nice defender for defender swap.
Daley has this season and next season left in his contract that has a cap hit of 3.3 Million per season. Scuderi has the same term left on his contract. His cap hit is 3.375 Million per season. Pretty much even in terms of salary. However, Pittsburgh will retain 33% of Scuderi's salary. The main difference is that Scuderi is an aging veteran at 36 years of age who is a Cup champ and Daley is younger at 31 and is still looking to win his first cup.
So Daley is still hungry for a cup and Scuderi will help add some veteran savy to help the young defenseman in Chicago. Win win for both teams.
