Make no mistake about it, this deal was motivated by money and perhaps the looming threat of an expansion draft.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes have announced that the have come to terms on a trade that will send veteran Bryan Bicklell as well as Teuvo Teravainen in exchange for Carolina's 2016 second-round draft pick and a 2017 third-round draft pick.

For the Blackhawks they receive some draft picks for the next several National Hockey League Entry Drafts, but more important they also get rid of Bickell's albatross contract, one that the team has reportedly been looking to trade for several seasons now.

Meanwhile Carolina brings some championship experience to their squad, and the real prize for them here is the 21 year old Finnish forward Teuvo Teravainen, who as a restricted free agent comes with several years of control.
