The Carolina Hurricanes placed forward Alexander Semin on unconditional waivers Tuesday with the intent of buying out his contract. Semin was notified of the club’s decision Tuesday, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and he will need to clear waivers at noon Wednesday prior to being bought out.The 31-year-old signed a five year, $35M contract with the 'Canes back in March 2013. After a modest 2013-14 campaign where he scored 22 goals, Semin had a horrible season in 2014-15, finding the back of the net only six times and adding a mediocre 13 assists. Semin would have had a cap hit of $7M for the next three seasons. He had the best year of his career back in Washington in 2009-2010 when he scored 40 goals and registered 84 points. Boyes on waiver too The Florida Panthers have announced they have putted veteran Brad Boyes on the waivers in order to buy him out. Boyes is also a former 40 goals scorer, reaching the mark back in 2007-2008 with the St. Louis Blues.
