He wants to play for a contender?

It appears that the Dennis Wideman saga in Calgary may be about to come to an end.
While Wideman's fully protected no-movement clause would lead you to believe that he isn't a likely candidate to be moved prior to the deadline, Wideman opnely admitted on Thursday that he would be open to a change of scenery.
“If that’s something that (the Flames) want to do, then they can call and I definitely would be open to it,” Wideman said as per the Calgary Herald. “I think, as a player, you don’t want to be anywhere that you’re not wanted."

Surprisingly there has been some mention of Wideman on the rumor mill in the past few days, especially surprising when you consider he carries a $5.25 million cap hit and a $6 million salary this season. With that in mind interest in Wideman will largely depend on how much of the veteran's contract the Flames are willing to absorb in a trade.
