After undergoing back surgery during the offseason and having his rehabilitation and recovery time delayed by a few more weeks, it appears as though Tomas Jurco is only a few days away from being reinserted into the Detroit Red Wings' lineup.

Ansar Khan of MLive.com is reporting that Jurco will report to the Grand Rapids Griffins today for a conditioning stint that is expected to last no more than two games. Shortly thereafter, he will be invited to rejoin the Red Wings and figures to be a part of the bottom-six forward group moving forward.

While Jurco will not be counted on to provide offense, his strong two-way game might prove to be of use to a struggling blue-line that will be without penalty-killing specialist Alexey Marchenko, who will be out for a few weeks after injuring himself earlier this week. Head coach Jeff Blashill's troops currently sit at 19th overall in the National Hockey League in goals against with an average of 2.68 allowed per game.

Through 143 games played with Detroit, Jurco has 15 goals and 39 points.
