After sustaining a mysterious “lower-body” injury, Detroit Red Wings veteran forward Justin Abdelkader was sidelined for a few games. His status was defined as “day-to-day”, and there was no telling just when he’d be ready to take part in game action.

Thankfully, he was not placed on neither short- or long-term injured reserve, and participated in practices over the course of the last week.

Abdelkader, who has one goal in five games and a minus-2 rating while a fighting major and a minor penalty bring his penalty minutes total to seven.

He spoke with journalists earlier, and confirmed that he will be playing tonight against the St. Louis Blues after being unsure yesterday, as reported.

There is no word yet on who he will replace in the lineup, but is expected to play on the fourth line.
