The Minnesota Wild will be playing without defenseman Jared Spurgeon tonight to face the Winnipeg Jets, as reported on Twitter by hockey insider Michael Russo. Spurgeon left the team morning skate after he fell ill earlier today. Ryan Murphy, called up earlier today, is expected to take his spot in the lineup.

Spurgeon, 27, was drafted 156th by the New York Islanders in 2008. He never played with that organization, and signed with the Wild as a free agent in 2010. He played 471 games played in the NHL, registering 183 points. He added 16 points in 39 playoff games.

So far this season, the Edmonton, Alberta native has registered 15 points in 23 games.
