Not content to let their rival Chicago Blackhawks get all the headlines today, the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets have come together to consummate a trade.

The minor league swap could have the biggest implications for the Wild moving forward as the 20 year-old Salituro is expected to compete for an NHL roster spot as early as next season. He produced 11 goals and 22 points in 30 games for the London Knights of the OHL in 2016-17. He also produced one goal in five games for the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters upon being called up to the pro ranks.

As for Schroeder, the former first round pick of the Vancouver Canucks (22nd overall) in 2009 has split the past three seasons between the Wild and their AHL affiliate in Iowa with mixed results. At this point in his career, the 26 year-old is a fringe NHLer at best.
