The Minnesota Wild have announced that they’ve signed 18-year-old goaltender Dereck Baribeau to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Baribeau played in two games for the Wild at the Traverse city Prospect Tournament last week, making 49 saves on 56 shots. The 6’6”, 200 lb netminder was ranked as the 10th best goaltender in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft but went unselected. He accepted an amateur tryout with the Wild and was rewarded for his hard work in training camp with an NHL contract.
Immediately following the announcement of his signing, Baribeau was assigned to his junior team, the Quebec Remparts for the 2017-18 season.
