The Detroit Red Wings have placed recently signed forward David Booth and 24-year-old defenseman Ryan Sproul on waivers. Should they both clear waivers by tomorrow morning, they’ll report to the team’s AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Both players are surprise cuts from the team, especially Booth considering that he JUST inked a brand new deal with the team earlier today after impressing during training camp and preseason on a tryout contract. In Sproul’s case, the youngster had a solid preseason schedule and looked to be a part of the team’s young defense corps moving forward. But, for whatever reason, Wings GM Ken Holland has determined the former 2nd round pick to be expendable.

What do you think Wings fans? Can you make sense of these moves?
