Breaking: Young NHL star is asking for $10 million per season!

A young National Hockey League start is reporting asking his team to break the bank.

According to a report from Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News young Buffalo Sabres star forward Jack Eichel is now seeking a deal that would pay him a whopping $10 million per season, and furthermore he's looking for that salary on a max deal.

Unfortunately for Eichel it doesn't sound like the Sabres are interested in coughing up that much money, and frankly it's hard to blame them given how much of a commitment that would be.

From the Buffalo News:

Eichel is undoubtedly going to become the highest-paid player in Sabres history by a large margin. It stands to reason his camp might be looking for a deal in the eight-year, $80-million range but the Sabres are believed to be balking at a $10 million per year cap hit for the 20-year-old and might be more interested in a figure in the $9 million range.

It sounds like we are headed for a heated negotiation between the two sides, one that could extend well into the regular season.
