He was one of the few players who tried to do things the right way, and for that reason most fans will likely be very happy to see him get big new money.

According to a report from TSN insider Bob McKenzie, Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has agreed to the terms of a new six year contract, and that contract will carry an average annual value of $5.4 million per season, that's good for a whopping $32.4 million over the duration of the deal.

Ristolainen made headlines when he showed up to Sabres camp without a new contract while every other player in his poisiton across the National Hockey League instead used the pressure tactic of holding out and reporting to camp, immediately endearing himself to NHL fans.

In fact one could argue that the move from Ristolainen applied a different kind of pressure on the Sabres organization, public pressure, and may have played a role in this deal getting done.
