Brett Pesce left leaking all over the ice on Sunday.
Sunday afternoon was a tough outing for veteran National Hockey League defenseman Brett Pesce, but it also set the stage for Pesce to show what an absolute badass he truly is.
Pesce and his New Jersey Devils faced off against the Seattle Kraken on Sunday and it was late in that game's second period that things would go awry for Pesce. Pesce was attempting to move the puck up ice when he was on the receiving end of a big hit from Kraken forward Eeli Tolvanen, but not the kind of hit that would typically lead to an injury.
In this case however it would unfortunately lead to a pretty nasty injury for Pesce who would get spun around by the hit. As Pesce did a 180 after absorbing the hit, he fell off balance and plummeted to the ice with no way to protect himself on the way down. The 31 year old would slam face first into the ice, his visor quickly turning red only moments after the initial impact.
Trainers rushed to Pesce's aid but understandably he would head back into the Devils locker room while clutching a towel to his face. Just when it seemed like Pesce was done for the day, unbelievably he stepped back out onto the Devils' bench despite looking like his day would end in the second period.
Pesce however was sporting a nasty looking cut, where it appears he was sliced open by his own visor.
Here is a look at the sizeable gash that Pesce is sporting across his face:
And another close up without the helmet:
What a warrior indeed.
