Brock Nelson takes slap shot straight to the head!

There was a scary moment in Pittsburgh in the first period of the game between the Penguins and the New York Islanders. 

As centreman Brock Nelson stood in front of Pens goalie Matt Murray, he got in the way of his teammate Ryan Pulock’s slap shot. The one timer got Nelson straight in the head. 

Fans held their breath in Pittsburgh as Nelson went down, but then, in a stocking turn of events, he simply headed to the bench and gave his broken helmet to the trainers. 

That’s right, he did not go off to the concussion protocol, despite a  piece of his helmet went into orbit!

You have to admit Nelson is pretty lucky after that shot, but also, we kind of wonder what the NHL spotters were doing not to ask for the forward to visit the quiet room for evaluation…
