Bruce Boudreau names his pick for the next Canucks captain

It seems like it happened years ago given the way that the season has played out for the Vancouver Canucks, but it's been nearly two months since the Canucks unceremoniously dumped head coach Bruce Boudreau and replaced him with Rick Tocchet.

Since then, the Canucks have traded captain Bo Horvat in a blockbuster deal with the New York Islanders and... well... the've kind of gone on a heater. The Canucks are 11-7-2 under Tocchet and have rattled off five consecutive wins for the first time this season. There's no question that the team is playing much differently under Tocchet than they did under Boudreau, but it's still unclear what lies ahead for this team. Are they legit? Or are they just picking up wins when it doesn't matter?

Oh... and who the Hell is their captain?

When asked about the captain situation on the NHL Network with the always lovely Jackie Redmond (Shout out, Jackie. Call me, girl!) Boudreau didn't hesitate to say that he feels Elias Pettersson should be the team's next captain.

Check it out:

"I really believe Elias Pettersson could be the future Captain of the Vancouver Canucks. I've seen him grow from last year to this year to even more as the seasons gone on..."

- Bruce Boudreau

Gotta say... I agree wholeheartedly. Pettersson is looking more and more like an emerging superstar and he has all the poise and character of a 10 year veteran.
