Bruins have another goalie in their sights and will be bringing him to training camp.
The Boston Bruins have done a very good job of developing goaltenders in recent years and as a result it has no doubt become a destination that goaltenders want to flock to.
This week we were treated to an example of that when it was revealed that a young goaltending prospect will be joining the Bruins at training camp, with no doubt a future in the National Hockey League on everyone's mind.
According to comments from NHL.com's Mark Diver, 23 year old goaltender Max Lundgren has confirmed that he was invited to Bruins development camp this summer and furthermore that he will be attending that development camp with the Bruins. Lundgren has been having an outstanding season with Merrimack College, recording a 2.60 goals against average and a .917 save percentage over an impressive workload of 37 games this season. The Bruins clearly see something in the Swedish netminder and this could be just the first step in Lundgren becoming an important part of the Bruins goaltending pipeline.
This is Lundgren's second season with Merrimack College, last season he recorded a 2.90 goals against average and a .909 save percentage over a smaller sample size of just 24 games.
Lundgren has shown promise and has some natural gifts going for him as well at 6'5 and 234 lbs, and it seems the Bruins were the first to jump at the opportunity to bring him in.
