BREAKING NEWS : all the trade details below:
The Boston Bruins completed a minor but telling trade, sending forward Jeffrey Viel to the Anaheim Ducks. In return, Boston acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the earlier of the two fourth-round selections currently held by Anaheim.
Boston could be making room on their roster for more moves to come.
In a corresponding move on Friday, the Bruins recalled defenseman Billy Sweezey from the AHL’s Providence Bruins on an emergency basis.
Viel, who is under contract through the end of the current season at a $775,000 NHL cap hit, is primarily known for his physical play, intensity, and agitator role. The 6-foot-1, 214-pound left winger has built a reputation as a hard-nosed player capable of disrupting opponents, though his offensive contributions in the NHL have been limited.
It's a great addition to the Ducks' roster.
His professional career reflects this profile: he has spent significant time in the American Hockey League, often in a prominent role, with only sporadic call-ups to the NHL. With Boston this season, Viel played just a handful of games, mainly in a depth role, and did not establish himself as a regular in the lineup.
