Bruins and Kings linked in trade talks?!

The Boston Bruins are dealing a lot of bad news at the moment… The injury ravaged defense corps took another hit on Wednesday night and it was potentially the biggest hit the team can suffer. Captain Zdeno Chara collided with Colorado Avalanche and former Bruins forward Carl Soderberg in the second period and did not return. Chara appeared to buckle his left knee when making contact with Soderberg.

On Thursday night, the Bruins announced that Chara returned back to Boston and is expected be out of the team’s lineup indefinitely, which is another brutal hit to the blue line…

If Chara misses any significant length of time he’ll join fellow B’s blue liners Kevan Miller, Charlie McAvoy, Urho Vaakanainen and Brandon Carlo on the injured reserve. In effect, the Bruins are missing their top three right sided defensemen… and their top pairing altogether.

The Los Angeles Kings could bring a solution forward as The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta believes another trade could be coming their way. He notes that the Kings are still listening to players like forward Tyler Toffoli  and defenseman Jake Muzzin, in hope of starting a retooling phase in LA.

If that’s the case, Bruins insider Matt Porter believes the Bruins could be investigating on Toffoli, especially with what has been taking place in Boston with all of the injuries. He believes the Bruins could make it work by sending young winger to Los Angeles in return.

The Kings have been looking to add some speed and productivity up front, so they might be listening in on what the Bruins have to offer. Before he was sent to the Penguins, Pearson had been mentioned to several teams during different trade talks. The same could be said of Toffoli and Muzzin, and even teammate and blue liner Alec Martinez, who have been on the trade block since the start of the season and some.

The Bruins might feel the void is too big now and be ready to make a deal with the Kings...
