Bruins announce their new bench boss in Providence.
Keystone Press.

The Boston Bruins were in need of a new head coach in Providence with the move to bring former head coach Bruce Cassidy up to the National Hockey League level to serve as a member of Claude Julien's staff, and it appears they have found one in-house.

According to a report from the Boston Herald, the Bruins have named long-time Providence Bruins assistant head coach Kevin Dean as the team's new head coach. Dean has a successful track record with the American Hockey League Bruins over his 5 years of the team, and those years of experience will bring a level of familiarity with the players and organization that an outside hire would not.

However Dean does bring a relative level of inexperience when it comes to taking over as a head coach, with only limited experience in the East Coast Hockey League on his resume as a head coach at the professional level.
