Bruins comeback win sets a new NHL record.
The Bruins claim an NHL record.
The Boston Bruins are having one heck of a solid season, so good in fact that it may go down as one of the greatest seasons any team has ever had in the history of the National Hockey League.
The Bruins got off to a rough start of Saturday afternoon, giving up a pair of early goals to the Detroit Red Wings. In spite of the early deficit though, the Bruins would claw their way back into this one and would eventually defeat the Red Wings by a score of 3-2.
That comeback victory not only secured the win over the Red Wings, it also dethroned them from one of their places in the NHL history books. Previously, the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings had been the fastest team to 50 wins in NHL history, accomplishing the feat in just 66 games played. One other team managed to repeat the feat 20 years later when the 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning also managed 50 wins in 66 games, but both those records have now been surpassed.
As fate would have it, the Bruins not only established a new NHL record on Saturday by securing their 50th win in just 64 games, but they did it against the very same franchise that set the record nearly 30 years ago.
