Bruins’ first round pick on the table to make trade happen!

We know Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney isn’t afraid to make big moves at the trade deadline and he is not about to change his ways this season. 

The Bruins may sit atop the Atlantic Division with 68 points through 50 games, they will make a move to bolster their roster ahead of the trade deadline and make sure they aren’t left heartbroken at the Stanley Cup final this time around. 

Team insider Joe Haggerty of NBC Boston believes the Bruins plan to acquire a top-six winger over the next month and are set on making New York Rangers winger Chris Kreider a Bruin for the postseason. 

They will however need to part with their first-round pick, it seems, since Kreider is expected to be in high demand ahead of the deadline. He is a 
pending unrestricted free agent, who has 16 goals and 31 points in 47 games this season. He carries a $4.625 million cap hit in the final season of a four-year deal signed with the Rangers in 2016.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Bruins offer their first round pick to the Rangers. In 2018, Boston sent their first round to New York to acquire forward Rick Nash. 

While some pundits still wonder if Kreider will be moved over the next month, the 28-year-old has not played in the playoffs in each of the last two seasons with the Rangers and would surely love a shot at the Cup. 

It remains to be seen if the Bruins and Rangers will lock up once again at the deadline with a significant trade.
