The Boston Bruins extended a professional tryout agreement to a familiar face earlier this autumn, and while a formal contract hasn't been finalized, he has been actively participating in team practices with the thought that an official contract could be inked in the near future.
And that day has arrived. The Bruins announced on social media earlier this afternoon that forward Danton Heinen has officially been signed to a one year contract. The deal carries a reported AAV of $775,000.
Heinen, who has spent the last two years with the Pittsburgh Penguins after having initially began his NHL career with the Bruins who made him the 116th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, has yet to appear in a regular season game this season due to not having not gotten a contract offer.
Via the official press release:
"Heinen, 28, appeared in 65 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2022-23 season, recording eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward has skated in 413 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, Anaheim and Boston, totaling 70 goals and 106 assists for 176 points.
The Langley, British Columbia native was originally selected by Boston in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft."
