The Boston Bruins have just made their first move on trade deadline day and it is a one for one trade.

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins have shipped forward Danton Heinen out of Boston and will be sending him to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Anaheim Ducks forward Nick Ritchie. This is a one for one deal and there are no additional pieces attached from either side.

It seems like this is the Bruins finally throwing in the towel on Danton Heinen and although we can't possibly know that for sure, comments made by Boston Bruins insider Joe Haggerty today would appear to indicate that there may have a feeling in Boston that Heinen was simply not going to be a good fit for the team long term. From Haggerty:

I think Bruins fans are going to like Nick Ritchie. Big, strong and better than his brother Brett. B’s need a player like that in their bottom-6 and maybe he can be that guy while the Bruins shave money off the cap. Also not a huge fan of Danton Heinen’s game. I’m not sure the Bruins are going to miss him on the ice much at all. He’s a non-factor way too often in games, particularly when the intensity is dialed up.
