A recent trade report got the attention of most teams across the NHL. Last week, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported that the Arizona Coyotes are shopping defenseman Jakob Chychrun, and several teams are looking to get into the mix.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers have been mentioned in the list of contenders, though Joe Haggerty now believes the Boston Bruins are also hopping on the sweepstakes wagon.

The Boston Hockey Now reporter believes the Bruins also need a top-four left-side rearguard capable of playing big minutes.

Haggerty likes the idea of Boston acquiring Chychrun, who would address that need. On top of that, he’s cost-controlled carrying an affordable $4.6 million annual salary-cap hit for the next three seasons.

However, during the Jeff Marek Show, Friedman made it clear that the asking price is “massive”, though it is not scaring off interested parties because of the overall circumstances involving Chychrun’s affordable contract and the Coyotes rebuilding process.

Haggerty fears that Arizona’s asking price could prove too expensive for the Bruins in terms of draft picks and cheap talented prospects.

The reporter therefore suggested some proposals for a trade for Chychrun: one is Matt Grzelcyk or Brandon Carlo along with Jack Studnicka plus a first-round pick and a second-rounder as a “starting-off point” in trade conversations. The second is Studnicka, Jake DeBrusk, Urho Vaakanainen and a pair of draft picks.

The Bruins do have the depth to make a huge move though it remains to be seen what rival teams would offer for Chychrun.

However, do you feel like they should have a stab at it?
