Bruins look to unexpected rival for trade deadline acquisition!

Earlier this month, chatter emerged that the Boston Bruins could look to the Vancouver Canucks.

The proposed trade shocked many fans, especially in Vancouver, due to the bitter rivalry between the two teams since the 2011 Stanley Cup finals that the Bruins won in Canada, which led to impressive riots. Ever since, it has been hard for fans to imagine a trade or any business taking place between the Canucks and the Bruins.

But you have to admit that Boston landing a top player like Bo Horvat would be hard to pass up!

If ever the Bruins cannot win the Horvat sweepstakes ahead of the March 3rd deadline, Dan Rosen of NHL.com believes the club should look to another rival in the St. Louis Blues. He even dares to suggest that the Bruins go after players that beat them back in 2019 in the Stanley Cup final.

“Ivan Barbashev is the player I have in mind for the Bruins. Barbashev’s availability hinges on the St. Louis Blues being sellers in advance of the trade deadline. The forward is a pending unrestricted free agent. The Blues, currently fifth in the Central Division, might be thinking that their championship window has closed with the current core and could be looking to move out some players on expiring contracts for future assets.”

In his mailbag, Rosen also suggests that Boston should target Vladimir Tarasenko or Noel Acciari. That gives the Bruins three very interesting targets on the market ahead of the deadline, when the Blues are likely to be sellers.

While it might be hard for Boston to deal with the team that beat them to the prestigious trophy less than 4 years ago, it might bring them the power up front they need to have incredible depth in the postseason.

Let’s keep an eye on this one!
