Bruins lose a key forward as they try to tie up the series.
The Boston Bruins have unfortunately dug themselves a gigantic hole in Game 4 of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres, and have done so in more ways than one.
The Bruins went into the first intermission down an abysmal 4-0 after an offensive onslaught from the Sabres in the first period, but perhaps an even bigger concern than the scoreboard is the status of veteran forward Viktor Arvidsson. Arvidsson appeared to be shaken up after being on the receiving end of a big hit along the boards in the first period, a hit that came courtesy of Sabres defenseman Conor Timmins.
Although Arvidsson would make a play on the puck moments after the hit, he would not return to the ice after the shift in which he took the hit. The Bruins have now also confirmed that Arvidsson will miss the remainder of today's game due to what they are calling an upper body injury.
It seems that Arvidsson's shoulder may have taken the brunt of the impact and he appeared to be favoring that shoulder as he left and headed back into the Bruins locker room, although there has been no official confirmation in that regard.
A very bad break for the Bruins at a time where it looks like their season may soon be on the line.
