Okay, this was funny.

The Boston Bruins have continued to absolutely roll through the rest of the National Hockey League, becoming the quickest team in history to reach 100 points in a regular season. Is there anything that this team can't do right now?

Helping to drive the proverbial team bus this seasons are veteran mainstays Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, both of whom are continuing to perform at a high level despite being in the twilights of their professional hockey careers.

And while most hockey fans shudder at the thought of the "load management" shenanigans that have completely tarnished the NBA, it sounds as though the Bruins are letting the 36 and 37 year old have a bit of down time. According to head coach Jim Montgomery, both Krejci and Bergeron received a “senior citizen discount” in their absences from practice.

“They get a free bowl of soup with the day off,” cracked Montgomery with a smile.

“We’re starting to look into days off, not only in communication with [Bergeron and Krejci] but also with some other players that might be having some aches and bruises,” he continued. “It’s about scheduling and when we could maximize days off for them and decrease the amount of volume that they are on the ice. We’re probably not looking at starting that this weekend, but probably on that road trip.”

The Bruins are about to embark on a five game road swing that begins in Detroit and then continues with matchups against the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres.
