Bruins set to lose a former first round pick for nothing.
A former first round pick may not be happy with his current situation in North America and as a result will be headed back closer to home... at least if the rumors are to be believed.
Rumors have been circulating regarding the future of Boston Bruins prospect Victor Soderstrom, specifically as it pertains to his future in North America. According to a rumor that originates from both Elite Prospects and Mark Allred of the Black and Gold podcast, hockey team EHC Biel-Bienne of the National League in Switzerland has expressed interest in Soderstrom and may have actually successfully enticed the player to leave North America altogether.
It hasn't been an easy road for Soderstrom in the National Hockey League with the Swedish forward initially drafted into the league by the Arizona Coyotes who selected him in the first round (11th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. That unfortunately meant that the first several years of Soderstrom's development were spent within the walls of that dysfunctional and now defunct NHL organization, before he eventually landed with the Bruins.
Soderstrom did appear in 8 NHL games for the Bruins this season but was primarily relagated to playing in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins. He had 9 goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 59 games with Providence, a very good season indeed, and it will be interesting to see if the Bruins try to keep him within the fold now that these rumors have begun to gain traction.
