Bruins provide first update on Morgan Geekie.

The Boston Bruins had something of a strange day on Saturday when they blew out the New York Rangers by a score of 10-2. Such a dominant performance is cause for celebration but the mood around that win was somewhat diminished due to concerns surrounding Bruins forward Morgan Geekie.

In spite of the fact that he suited up for the game, Geekie would suddenly and unexpectedly leave in the middle of the game to attend to what has only been described as a family matter. Fans were very concerned about what could have caused Geekie to suddenly need to leave in the middle of a game, but thus far no update has been forthcoming from the Bruins.

On Sunday, we got out first real update on the Geekie situation when the Bruins announced that he would once again remain out of the lineup as he attends to this personal family matter.

Given that details around these types of absences are always very sparse, there is no way to determine when Geekie might return to the team. Thankfully, despite this being a frustrating situation from the perspective of a fan, fans have showed tremendous support for Geekie as remains absent from the team.

Geekie was having another strong season prior to his current leave of absence with 25 goals and 16 assists for 41 points in 45 games this season.
