Significant injury updates from the Bruins ahead of their game on Sunday.
The Boston Bruins have provided significant injury updates on two key players on their roster.
On Sunday, the Bruins officially announced that veteran forward Elias Lindholm is returning to the active roster after an extended layoff. Lindholm has missed the entire month of November due to injury, last appearing in a game for the Bruins on October 30th when they faced off against the Buffalo Sabres. Lindholm played just 9 minutes and 37 seconds in that game before leaving due to injury.
Lindholm did not have the best start to his season prior to his injury, scoring 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points in 13 games, although the Bruins as a whole were struggling to start the season. His return will give the surging Bruins a boost at the best possible time considering some of the other injury news the Bruins shared today.
Injured Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy will continue to be out for a while after taking a hard shot to the face courtesy of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Noah Dobson.
McAvoy has since had surgery to repair the damage to his face, but on Sunday the Bruins announced that McAvoy was being placed on injured reserve. This means that McAvoy will have to remain out for a period of at least 7 days before he can be eligible to return to play, although of course he could be out for much longer than that.
The news regarding McAvoy is disappointing but will come as no surprise to anyone who has seen just how bad things looked when he was struck in the face by a puck.
