Bruins reportedly tried to land two impact players on the deadline

A report from Sportsnet top insider Elliotte Friedman suggests that Don Sweeney tried to land two impact players on the trade deadline.

As per Friedman, the Boston Bruins were interested in Coyotes forward Radim Vrbata and Sabres defenseman Dmitry Kulikov. “They were in on Radim Vrbata, and, at one point, some of the other teams in that bidding thought the Bruins would get him,” wrote Friedman in his 30 thoughts column.

Arizona Coyotes Gm John Chayka was asking for a second-round pick for Vrbata as the inquiries for Kulikov are not known.

Radim Vrbata, 35-year-old, is going to be UFA at the end of this season. He played 997 games in the NHL. Vrbata scored 274 goals and registered 317 assists for a total of 601 points.

As for Dmitri Kulikov, he’s a 26-year-old left handed defensemen. He’s a former first rounder (14th overall) in the 2009 NHL entry draft. He played 498 games in the NHL. Kulikov scored 29 goals and registered 111 assists for a total of 140 points.
