Boston Bruins' defenseman Zdeno Chara is one of the staples of the Bruins organization, but it's starting to sound like the team may have to deal with absence for a little while.

An official updatefrom the Bruins official website has revealed that Chara suffered a lower-body injury in the second period of Tuesday night's game, a loss to the St. Louis Blues. It was however the vagueness regarding the timeline for his recovery that was most troubling.

The Bruins refused to discuss the nature of the injury or a possible time frame for when Chara could be back, stating instead that further testing was required and that an update would only be provided on Friday the 25th of November. Generally speaking you don't need two days to figure out how severe an injury is unless it's something rather bad, but we can only speculate at this point.

While there's no doubt Chara has slowed down with the passing of time, he's still a huge part of what the Bruins do on defense, and losing a player who eats up significant minutes and has appeared in 19 games for you this season is going to hurt.

Update: Claude Julien now claiming Chara is doubtful for at least the next two games.
