Bruins unveil roster for first preseason game on Sunday.

The Boston Bruins are finally set to hit the ice once again with their first preseason game of the season set to get underway later today. The Bruins will welcome the Washington Capitals to TD Garden arena in Boston and it looks like a large number of the Bruins regulars will be there to welcome the Capitals as well.

While most teams usually keep their regulars off the ice early in the preseason, that won't be the case when the Bruins finally get things underway tonight. Instead the Bruins appear to be bringing most of what will be their NHL roster this season with a few notable exceptions.

First let's take a look at who you can expect to see in today's lineup:

Forwards:

Matej Blumel
Patrick Brown
Riley Duran
Morgan Geekie
Tanner Jeannot
Elias Lindholm
Fabian Lysell
Fraser Minten
Matthew Poitras
Alex Steeves
Jeffrey Viel

Defensemen:

Mason Lohrei
Charlie McAvoy
Andrew Peeke
Victor Soderstrom
Billy Sweezey

Goalies:
Luke Cavallin
Michael DiPietro
Simon Zajicek

That is a significant number of the Bruins regular National Hockey League roster on display with some notable exceptions such as star forward David Pastrnak and star goaltender Jeremy Swayman. That being said this remains an indication that the Bruins are taking the preseason seriously, which makes sense after a disappointing season during the 2024-25 campaign.

It remains to be seen how much ice time the regulars will get when they face off against the Capitals later today, but with so many of them on the roster I suspect those numbers will be significant.
