Bruins veterans scratched before the biggest game of the season!

The Boston Bruins have made some tough calls ahead of Game 7, and that means some veterans are sitting out.

The Boston Bruins are facing elimination in Game 7 on Sunday night and with that in mind there is little doubt that this will be the biggest game of the season for the Bruins thus far.

Earlier today we indicated that head coach Jim Montgomery was hinting at significant changes to his lineup ahead of Game 7 and it would seem that all of those changes are now confirmed.

First let's take a look at tonight's full lineup:

Marchand-Bergeron-Bertuzzi
Zacha-Krejci-Pastrnak
Hall-Coyle-DeBrusk
Frederic-Nosek-Hathaway

Orlov-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo
Forbort-Grzelcyk

Swayman

As we mentioned earlier today it will be defenseman Matt Grzelcyk who steps into the lineup tonight in lieu of Conor Clifton, but perhaps the bigger surprise is veteran Bruins forward Nick Foligno being scratched in such a pivotal game. Instead the Bruins will pivot to Trent Frederic in the biggest game of the year, a player that has been a physical force for the Bruins at times this season.

The swap of goaltender Jeremy Swayman for Linus Ullmark likely would have come as a huge surprise earlier in this series, but many now feel this change should have been made earlier than Game 7.
