The Buffalo Sabres have placed player development coach and former fan favorite Adam Mair on administrative leave following his arrest in Rochester, NY yesterday afternoon.

Mair has been charged with three felonies and three misdemeanors including aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child.

Monroe County police responded to the scene of a car crash where they found Mair standing outside his BMW. Mair reportedly told officers that he was driving "too fast" and couldn't stop in time, striking the rear of another vehicle.

“While speaking with Adam I could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy,” a deputy wrote in the police report. “His speech was slow and mumbled, and he was using the front passenger door of his vehicle to support himself while standing.”

Mair denied drinking but failed a field sobriety test. He was taken into custody where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.2%, more than twice the legal limit.

Mair, who has been on the Sabres' staff since 2015 following a successful pro career with the team, has been placed on leave indefinitely.

“We are aware of the situation involving Adam Mair,” said Nicole Hendricks, vice president of communications. “He has been placed on administrative leave. We will have no further comment at this time.”
