The Calgary Flames have made a stunning move.
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Calgary Flames have fired head coach Darryl Sutter effective immediately. Sutter was the subject of much controversy this season and was the target of a great deal of criticism after the Flames failed to make the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The move will come as a shock to many given that the Flames recently let general manager Brad Treliving walk and did not renew his contract at the end of the season. Many suspected that Treliving desired to move on from Sutter, and a disagreement from those above him in the organization is what eventually forced the split.
To see the Flames now make that move just a few short weeks later does indeed seem a bit a strange.
