Camera catches Oilers’ Dave Manson’s awkward reaction to son Josh’s goal for the Avs
Manson father, son on opposite sides for Oilers, Avalanche in West Final: and it got weird!

Dave and Josh Manson have been on opposite benches ever since Game 1 between the Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final.
Dave Manson, who joined Edmonton, along with coach Jay Woodcroft back in February, has seen his son move from the Anaheim Ducks to the Avalanche at the trade deadline and now competing for a spot in the Stanley Cup final.
Like his father was, Josh is considered a solid, stay-at-home defenseman. And he can scored too! On Thursday night in Game 2 of the Western final, Manson scored his second of the postseason and as he did, the camera went straight to Dave Manson’s reaction on the Oilers’ bench.
As you can tell from the footage, it is getting a bit awkward though the Manson father and son duo maintained that family comes first.
Dave Manson played 1,103 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs in 16 NHL seasons, and has seen his load of goals. Though this one from his own son might have triggered some mixed feelings.
As for Josh Manson’s daughter, who Dave couldn’t wait to come see once the series started, she didn’t really care much about the tally. Per Marc-Andre Perreault of TVA Sports, the two-year old was more interested in her cookie and a bag of Fritos than her daddy’s goal.
Someone should have gotten Dave some Fritos as well to better digest the goal!
