Canada appears to name its starting goalie for game 1 against Sweden
Ride or die... here we go.
This just in from team Canada's practice this morning in Montreal, it appears that the team will turn to St. Louis Blues veteran Jordan Binnington as its starting goaltender for Wednesday evening when the puck drops on the 4 Nations Face-Off.
From NHL insider Chris Johnston:
It appears that Binnington will get the start over Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault, which is not terribly surprising. Binnington is a Stanley Cup champion and probably the most accomplished goaltender available to team Canada at the moment. You could argue for Marc Andre Fleury's inclusion on this roster, but the fact of the matter is that Canada simply isn't very strong at the goaltending position these days. It wasn't too long ago that this country boasted Carey Price, Roberto Luongo and Martin Brodeur as its 1, 2, 3 punch in goal... but the pickings are a little slimmer these days!
