Canada dominates first game at World Championship.

A stacked Canadian roster sends an early message on Saturday morning with a lopsided victory.

Team Canada has an unusually stacked roster at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championship of Hockey and it didn't take long for the results of that to show up.

On Saturday morning, the Canadians officially played their first game of the tournament against the nation of Slovakia and it was nothing short of a blowout on the part of the Canadian squad. Despite a terrific performance from Slovakian goaltender Lukas Horak, who had 40 saves in the game, the Canadians would dominate from start to finish, eventually closing out the game by a score of 4-0.

It was Canada's power play that resulted in the lopsided victory with three of the four Canadian goals coming on the power play, including the first goal of the game from New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat.

The Canadian squad this time boasts a ton of talent from the National Hockey League with announcements earlier this month that the likes of Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon would be adding their names to the roster, with that NHL level star power on full display in their first game of the tournament.

It was Colorado Avalanche star forward Nathan MacKinnon who would pick up Canada's 2nd goal of the game.

The aforementioned Bo Horvat would show up again for Canada's third goal of the game.

The fourth Canadian goal would come with the help of a young Canadian star when Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson buried the feed from San Jose Sharks star forward Macklin Celebrini to put the game on ice.

A great start to the tournament for a loaded Canadian team that is going to have very high expectations placed on them in this tournament.
