This just in, according to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman Vegas Golden Knights goaltender and Team Canada's #2 netminder Adin Hill is expected to be out of action for "a few months."

Hill sustained a lower-body injury 10 minutes into the Golden Knights’ 4-1 win against Carolina back on Oct. 20. After making four saves, Hill was forced to leave the game and needed help getting to the bench and down the tunnel; he has not played since.

From Friedman's latest 32 Thoughts column:

Jordan Binnington is a lock, and deserves to be unless he completely craters off the the face of the earth. After that, there are questions, especially since word is Adin Hill is out a few months. I think Thompson is a contender, on merit.

Friedman, of course, is talking about Hill's spot with Team Canada being up for grabs at the 2026 Olympics. It's expected that Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson will take the role.

So that means Canada will most likely go with a goaltending group of Jordan Binnington, Logan Thompson and Sam Montembeault for the Olympics. Compare that to USA's squad of Connor Hellebuyck, Thatcher Demko and Jake Oettinger. Or how about Sweden's group of Filip Gustavsson, Jacob Markstrom and Linus Ullmark? Oh... and that's saying NOTHING about Russia's potential team of Andrei Vasilevsky, Sergei Bobrovsky and Igor Shesterkin. Russia though, of course, is not allowed to participate in the upcoming games due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In any case, Canada can't afford injuries to their goaltenders... certainly now more than ever.
